green is the new black

happy earth day.
do something green today.
every little bit helps.
reduce, reuse, recycle.

just a quick layout about miss h and what she says to me everyday on the way to the bus stop. i used to april 'style phyle' from scrap in style. the kit is based on the office, a show that i have yet to see, but am dying to.

here is may's story kit peek. yep, bambi and norm. :)

hope you have a great green day!

springy spring time

happy birthday to my one and only hunka hunka burning love!
that means in three weeks i'll turn another year older and wiser and more beautiful, haha!
last night he says to me "we are getting old fast." to which i replied, "maybe you are, but i'm not getting any older faster than everyone else." i sense a mid-life crisis coming on. oh wait, it's already parked in the garage. :) i think somebody needs some cake and ice cream. and definitely a funny hat.

have i mentioned how much i like spring??
i do. tons and tons.
i love waking up to the birdies singing at the top of their little lungs.
i love the deep lush 'spring green' that everything turns overnight.
i love the crazy spring thunderstorms that roll in in an instant.
i love hail. no, not really.

so i was asked by lu be a guest slammer over at art slam and this is the challenge that i came up with. it's a mini journal based on spring. my challenge is to sew on your pages, which seemed very fitting for me, because i can't complete something without sewing in it.

1. the cover represents hail and the chilly spring mornings.
2. the music is birds singing.
3. represents the tulips blooming.
4. is plants emerging as the warm sun and wind wakes their winter slumber.
5. is the spring rain and black thunderstorm sky.
6. the last page is just more flowers.

the materials used were: card stock, cardboard, paint, ink, stamps, dry wall tape, tulle, staples, misc. tags, vintage sheet music & book pages, rub-ons, ki lace paper, plastic from packaging and machine sewing.i had a really great time getting messy with paint and ink.

i hope y'all are enjoying spring as much as i am.
have a great weekend!

bambi meets norm abram

i'm referring to the new sassafras lass paper line with the wood grain deer. oh deer! it's all over the place. it's smokin' hot and every kit club features it right now. studio calico sponsored the jack girls again and i was fortunate enough to get a sheet of this a-doe-rableness/ a-deer-ableness. it will make you faint and want to 'fawn' your self. ok. enough of the bad puns.

i've got to go out and face the forty mile-an-hour winds that we are having again today. it's time to conquer those weeds and show them who's boss. tomato and zucchini plants must get into the ground today.

spring is all about

cleaning.
i can handle cleaning for 19 minutes a day.

organizing.
i'd own every item in this store if i won the lottery.

shopping.
ok. so i like clothes. can you blame me? i am a girl.

soaking up sunshine.
unfortunately these are a bit pricey as i tend to carelessly toss my sunglasses any and everywhere.

gardening.
love love this idea, as my mint is taking over my whole garden and soon the lawn.

april showers.
i think the wind would take this out with one gust.

new banners. :)
i hope this is self-explanatory.

new recipes.
oh how i love the cook.

hope y'all have a wonderful weekend.
